HARRISBURG – Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) will host a free virtual community event with Penn State Extension on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. to provide residents with an overview of data center development in Pennsylvania. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link, and attendance is limited to 200 participants. The event is open only to residents of the 27th Senatorial District.
Titled “Data Centers: Why Here, Why Now?”, the event will offer an informative session exploring why Pennsylvania has become a major location for data center development. Experts from Penn State Extension will provide a balanced look at what data centers are, why companies are choosing Pennsylvania, and what potential opportunities and challenges communities may see as this industry grows.
“Data center development is becoming an important topic in communities across Pennsylvania, and I wanted to offer residents an opportunity to hear clear, fact-based information from knowledgeable experts,” Culver said. “This event is designed to help people better understand the issue and learn more about how this growing industry may affect our region and the Commonwealth as a whole.”
The session is intended for residents who are curious about the technology, interested in community impacts, or simply want to better understand the issue.
