HARRISBURG – Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) today announced more than $2 million in state grants have been awarded for projects to benefit residents in Snyder County.
The grants were awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s (CFA) Local Share Account (LSA) Program, which funds projects concerning the public interest, community improvement and economic development using gaming money generated by casinos.
“These grants will make possible some large, big-ticket projects in Snyder County that might otherwise be unaffordable for local governments and authorities,” Culver said. “The state’s financial support will ensure these projects can move forward and make a positive impact in the lives of Snyder County residents.”
Grant recipients include:
- Beavertown Municipal Authority received $450,000 to make improvements to the wastewater treatment plant in Beavertown Borough.
- Hummels Wharf Municipal Authority received $591,000 to rehabilitate the sanitary sewer system in Monroe Township.
- Middleburg Municipal Authority received $237,000 to purchase ultraviolet disinfection systems for two of its wastewater treatment plants located in Middleburg Borough and Franklin Township.
- Penn Township Municipal Authority received $600,000 for a second well to enhance reliability and flexibility in system supply operations.
- Perry Township received $193,000 to purchase portable and mobile radios for the 38 firefighters at Fremont Fire Department.
The CFA is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development that administers many of Pennsylvania’s economic development and community improvement programs.
