HARRISBURG – Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) today announced $5,594,971 in state grant funding has been awarded to support local infrastructure, public safety, and community improvement projects across the 27th Senatorial District.
The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) through the Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide program and will benefit municipalities and organizations in Columbia, Luzerne, Montour, Northumberland, and Snyder counties.
“These investments will help communities address real needs while easing the financial burden on local taxpayers,” Culver said. “From public safety equipment and wastewater improvements to childcare, historic preservation, and community facilities, this funding supports projects that improve quality of life across our region.”
Other local legislators emphasized the broad reach and practical impact of the funding across the district.
“These projects touch on every corner of our district from infrastructure and public safety to historic preservation and early childhood education,” said Rep. Stender. “I will continue working to support smart investments that strengthen our communities and serve local residents.”
“These grants provide vital support to local communities, helping improve public safety, enhance infrastructure, and strengthen quality of life for residents,” said Rep. Stehr. “Investments like these ensure our municipalities have the resources they need to serve their communities effectively.”
“These investments save local governments money, strengthen our communities, and improve essential services,” said Rep. Dave Rowe. “From sewer upgrades to fire safety equipment and ballpark improvements, these projects will positively impact current and future residents’ quality of life.”
In addition to supporting a wide range of community needs, the funding also advances critical public safety projects.
“I was very happy to have advocated for this funding to help the fire company build a new station to better serve the community,” said Rep. Jamie Walsh. “This type of investment in our communities is essential for enhanced public safety.”
Lawmakers also noted the importance of securing outside funding to reduce pressure on local taxpayers and municipal budgets.
“By securing outside funding for these projects, we’re taking pressure off municipal budgets and ensuring taxpayers aren’t left holding the bag,” said Rep. Ryncavage. “These projects move neighborhoods forward while keeping municipal finances stable.”
“These dollars being brought back to Columbia County are the result of persistent work and conservative common sense to return taxpayer money home and invest it where it makes a real difference for families and communities,” said Rep. Leadbeter. “When I make a commitment, I deliver.”
