Senator Culver, Rep. Stender to Host Public Forum on Firefighter Recruitment

SUNBURY – Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) and Representative Michael Stender (R-108) will host a public event on Sunday, May 19 focused on supporting Pennsylvania’s volunteer fire service and addressing the growing need for firefighter recruitment.

The forum will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Route 61 Events, located at 1437 PA-61 in Sunbury. The event is free and open to the public.

Joining Senator Culver and Rep. Stender will be volunteer firefighter Eric Frantz, who will help lead the discussion on practical, community-based solutions to the volunteer firefighter shortage, including successful youth programs and school partnerships.

“This is a critical issue facing our region and the entire Commonwealth,” said Culver. “Volunteer firefighters are the backbone of emergency response in so many of our communities, and we need to make sure the next generation is encouraged, supported, and equipped to serve.”

The event will highlight successful models such as the high school firefighting club at Danville Area School District, which offers students early exposure to public service and emergency response training.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, share ideas, and connect with others interested in strengthening their local fire services.

To RSVP, please call Senator Culver’s district office at 570-743-1918.
