HARRISBURG – Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) today announced more than $750,000 in state grants have been awarded for projects to benefit residents in Montour County.
The grants were awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s (CFA) Local Share Account (LSA) Program, which funds projects concerning the public interest, community improvement and economic development using gaming money generated by casinos.
“The state works as a financial partner to help counties and municipalities fund important projects without increasing the burden on local taxpayers,” Culver said. “This is an example of multiple layers of government working together to deliver important projects for local communities and their residents.”
Grant recipients include:
- Danville Municipal Authority received $350,000 to replace 2,000 feet of water main along East Market Street between the Danville Water Plant and Danville State Hospital in Danville Borough.
- Mahoning Township received $96,000 to purchase police body cameras and cameras to be installed in the interview room and police vehicles.
- Montour County received $114,000 on behalf of Montour Delong Community Fair Association to make upgrades to the Main Fair Community Building in Limestone Township.
- Montour County received $200,000 on behalf of Danville Area Community Center for a HVAC renovation project to remove and replace the system for the swimming pool.
The CFA is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development that administers many of Pennsylvania’s economic development and community improvement programs.
