Culver and Stehr Announce More Than $2.3 Million for Northumberland County Projects

HARRISBURG – Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) and Rep. JoAnne Stehr (R-107) today announced more than $2.3 million in state grants have been awarded for projects to benefit residents in Northumberland County.

The grants were awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s (CFA) Local Share Account (LSA) Program, which funds projects concerning the public interest, community improvement and economic development using gaming money generated by casinos.

“The state is providing financial resources to counties and local governments to fund projects that will positively impact Northumberland County residents,” Culver said. “The state dollars make a big difference because some of these projects might otherwise be unaffordable for municipal governments.”

“The proposed projects for this grant funding, including essential upgrades to borough halls, fire apparatus, and public safety vehicles, reflect our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents in Northumberland County,” said Stehr. “By investing LSA funds into these initiatives, we are ensuring that our municipal services are safe, efficient, and able to meet the needs of our families for years to come.”

Grant recipients include:

  • Herndon Borough received $78,000 to upgrade the municipal building.
  • Herndon Borough received $52,000 to purchase a truck with a snowplow attachment.
