Culver, Stender Announce more than $240,000 Grant for Danville Airport

HARRISBURG – Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) and Rep. Michael Stender (R-108) today announced more than $240,000 in state grant funding has been awarded for improvements at the Danville Airport in Riverside Borough, Northumberland County.

The grant was awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

“Danville Airport is a transportation asset and this state funding will help fund improvements without further burdening local taxpayers,” Culver said. “Projects like this can be nearly impossible for local communities to fund on their own, so the state is an important partner in the development process.”

The grant was awarded to the Northumberland-Montour Joint Airport Authority to fund improvements at the local airport.

“It’s rewarding to witness this funding being allocated to our local airport,” said Stender. “I’m glad to have collaborated with Sen. Culver on this endeavor, focusing on our shared commitment to maintaining and safeguarding infrastructure for our community.”

The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to administer the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.

Funding for this project is being delivered through the DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund grant program, which provides financial support for projects to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for commonwealth residents.
