Culver, Stehr Announce Half-Million Dollar Grant for Locust Gap Highway Project

HARRISBURG – Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) and Rep. JoAnne Stehr (R-107) today announced $500,000 in state grant money has been awarded to pay for traffic improvements along Locust Gap Highway in Mount Carmel Borough, Northumberland County.

The grant was awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

“Our transportation system serves as the veins and arteries of our community, helping families to reach their destination and businesses to deliver goods and services to customers,” Culver said. “This state investment in our community will enhance our transportation infrastructure without further burdening local taxpayers.”

The $500,000 grant was awarded to Blue Creek Investments LLC.

“It is critical to maintain our roads, sidewalks and bridges because they serve as the main lifelines of our community,” Stehr said. “I am pleased that this grant funding will be allocated towards enhancing our local transportation systems, recognizing the vital role they play in our community’s prosperity and connectivity.”

The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to administer the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.

Funding for this project is being delivered through the DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund grant program, which provides financial support for projects to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for commonwealth residents.
